PIA Offers 14% Discount on Domestic Flights for Pakistan’s Independence Day

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced a 14% discount on all of its domestic flights scheduled for August 14, 2023, in celebration of the country’s 76th Independence Day.

The discount is available on all economy class tickets and can be availed by booking flights through PIA’s website or call center. The discount is not applicable on taxes and surcharges.

PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez said that the discount was being offered to mark the country’s Independence Day and to encourage Pakistanis to travel and celebrate the occasion with their loved ones.

“We want to make it easier for Pakistanis to travel and celebrate Independence Day with their families and friends,” Hafeez said. “This discount will help to make air travel more affordable and accessible to everyone.”

The discount is valid for all domestic flights operated by PIA on August 14, 2023. Tickets must be booked before August 12, 2023, in order to avail of the discount.

The discount is a welcome move by PIA and is sure to be popular with Pakistanis looking to travel for Independence Day. It is also a good opportunity for PIA to boost its domestic traffic.

In addition to the discount on domestic flights, PIA is also offering a number of other special promotions for Independence Day. These include discounts on hotel stays, car rentals, and duty-free shopping.

A 35-Member Business Delegation from Pakistan to Visit Bangladesh in May 2023

A 35-Member Business Delegation from Pakistan is expected to participate at the Handover-Takeover Ceremony of the Bangladesh Presidency to the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Chambers of Commerce and Industries (SAARC ICC) for the Term 2023-2024. The Handover-Takeover Ceremony of the Bangladesh Presidency is scheduled to take place in Dhaka during 24-25 May 2023.

Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad and the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Karachi have extended necessary support including extending necessary visas to the business delegation from Pakistan. The Missions also coordinated with the Federation of the Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Headquarters in Karachi. Two groups of seven businesspersons from FPCCI called on the Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi. They discussed issues of promoting mutual trade and commerce between the two countries bilaterally and under the aegis of the SAARC ICC.

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) will take over the SAARC Presidency for the term 2023-2024. The handover-takeover ceremony will be held in Bangladesh with the presence of the SAARC ICC Executive Committee. The General Assembly of the SAARC ICC is scheduled during 24-25 May 2023 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The SAARC ICC Members from Pakistan are expected to visit Bangladesh to attend the SAARC ICC event of handover-Takeover Ceremony of its Presidency for the Term 2023-2024.

The Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Karachi S. M. Mahbubul Alam elaborated that the SAARC ICC encourages Trade, Service, Industry, Small & Medium Enterprise, and Agriculture, Intra-Regional through creating strong business linkages amongst the entrepreneurs of the region of South Asia. It also makes recommendations to safeguard the economic and business interests of the SAARC member countries. Further, the body serves as a consultative body of the Private Sector of the region to provide input/feedback on regional economic issues. SAARC ICC also encourages Member Countries to accord preferential terms of trade to each other and finally strive towards the gradual realization of the SAARC Economic and Monetary Union. The SAARC body also promotes the exchange of commercial, technical, industrial management, and scientific information, education, and know-how among its members and also collates, collects, and disseminates statistical data and conducts joint research and development among the SAARC Member Countries.

Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi S. M. Mahbubul Alam mentioned that the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Dhaka will warmly welcome the business delegation from Pakistan. He further expressed his optimism that as the President of the SAARC ICC Bangladesh would play a significant role in promoting the causes of the organization.

IHC orders security arrangements for Imran’s appearance in court today

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday directed the Islamabad District Administration and Inspector General of Police to ensure security arrangements for the appearance of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in the court today (Tuesday).

A circular issued by the IHC Registrar’s Office said the pre-arrest bail petitions of former prime minister Imran Khan in two cases would be heard at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Courtroom No 1 where the entry of journalists and lawyers would be permitted through special passes. However, the court staff would be exempted from the passes.

The circular said Imran Khan would be allowed to take 15 lawyers along with him in the courtroom while ten lawyers would be allowed from the offices of the Attorney General of Pakistan and Advocate General Islamabad, besides 30 members of the Islamabad High Court Journalists Association (IHCJA).
