Lahore’s public transport network has returned to normal as the Orange Line Metro Train and Metro Bus Service resumed operations on Tuesday after several days of suspension due to security and traffic restrictions. The restoration has brought significant relief to thousands of daily commuters who rely on these systems for affordable urban travel.
According to the Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA), the Orange Line train resumed service after being closed for five consecutive days. The closure was implemented as a precautionary measure amid heightened security alerts and road closures across key areas of the city.
With the situation now stabilized, the Orange Line has reopened its full route, reconnecting major parts of Lahore and easing congestion on the roads. Officials confirmed that all safety and operational checks have been completed to ensure smooth travel for passengers.
Simultaneously, the Metro Bus Service in Lahore has also been fully restored after a four-day suspension. The halt was introduced due to similar administrative and traffic restrictions following security advisories. The PMTA stated that both transport services were reinstated after a thorough assessment of the city’s law and order conditions.
Authorities assured the public that law and order are now stable, with Lahore Police maintaining strict security across markets, shopping centers, and public spaces. Citizens have been encouraged to resume their daily routines and commercial activities, with police promising complete protection for residents and businesses alike.
In case of emergencies or suspicious activity, citizens have been urged to contact the Police Helpline 15, as law enforcement agencies remain on high alert to prevent any disruption.
Meanwhile, partial restoration of Metro Bus operations has also been reported in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Officials confirmed that buses are currently running between Saddar and Kashmir Highway, while the route from Faiz Ahmed Faiz Station to Pak Secretariat remains closed due to ongoing security restrictions.
The partial suspension followed recent protests organized by a religious group, prompting authorities to adopt strict precautionary measures. However, district officials have clarified that no major roads are currently blocked, and traffic police are actively managing congestion to ensure smooth movement across the federal capital.
Law enforcement agencies in both cities reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and stability. Islamabad Police stated that all units are fully prepared to respond to any situation, with additional security measures implemented in sensitive zones.
The resumption of Lahore’s Orange Line and Metro Bus operations marks a welcome return to normalcy for commuters, reinforcing the importance of reliable public transport in maintaining urban connectivity and economic activity.
