Fuel subsidy relief package- a timely measure to provide respite to inflation-stricken people

ISLAMABAD, Jul 24 (APP):The relief package worth Rs. 28 billion introduced by the present government to lessen the impact of increased fuel prices on the low income groups was indeed a timely measure to provide respite to the inflation-stricken people.

The government of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had to increase the prices of petroleum products to help the country’s ailing economy owing to the ineffective past policies of the past.

The Sasta Petrol/Diesel scheme introduced for the first time in the history of the country by any government to provide Rs 2000 to the 14 million families (over all 90 million people approximately) in wake of increased fuel prices to improve the country’s economic indicators.

Hailed as a timely measure to provide the much-needed respite, the payment process under the Sasta Petrol/Sasta Diesel scheme, being executed by the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), is continuing successfully across the country. Till July 22 (Friday), over Rs 12 billion have been disbursed among 6,138,455 beneficiaries under the Sasta Petrol/Sasta Diesel Scheme.

As per the provincial breakdown of the payments, an amount of Rs 114,262,000 has been disbursed among 57,131 beneficiaries in Azad Jammu Kashmir, Rs. 492,408,000 among 246,204 beneficiaries in Balochistan, Rs. 97,970,000 among 48,985 beneficiaries in Gilgit-Baltistan and Rs 4,610,000 among 2305 beneficiaries in Islamabad.

A total of Rs 2,273,654,000 has been disbursed among 1,136,827 beneficiaries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rs 5,558,310,000 among 2,779,155 beneficiaries in Punjab, Rs 3,735,696,000 among 1,867,848 beneficiaries in Sindh.

According to the beneficiaries, the scheme providing Rs 2000 as fuel subsidy is although not enough amount to counter the effects of over-all inflation on poor but a good initiative on the part of the government to minimize at least the impacts of increased petrol prices.

Talking to APP, Anjuman, a beneficiary belonged to Islamabad said, “It is very difficult for the poor people like us to manage our living expenses in the prevailing price hike situation. In such situation, the fuel subsidy amount being provided by the government is a big relief for my family to meet the daily expenses”.
About the payment mechanism, Anjuman said that she had just received the amount of fuel subsidy from the One Window Center in Islamabad where the staff is very helpful and provided proper guidance to the beneficiaries.

Another beneficiary, Nazeeran Mai who belonged from Bahawalpur visited the One Window Center to receive payment and thanked the present government for providing assistance of Rs 2000 under the Sasta Petrol/Sasta Diesel Scheme with a hope that this amount would be increased in future.

Nazeeran Mai said that she will spend this amount on buying ration for her family as it has been difficult to make both ends meet during the prevailing inflation.

Another beneficiary, Safia Bibi, from Banni, Rawalpindi said that she has received the amount of Rs 2000 from the payment center today which she will utilize for fulfilling the needs of her children.

Appreciating this initiative of the present government, she said this amount means a lot to the poor like us and reflect the government sincere intentions to extend relief to the poor even in the difficult economic conditions.
The Sasta Petrol/Sasta Diesel Scheme is covering 14 million families (overall 90 million people) which are around 30 percent of the total population through providing the financial assistance of Rs. 2000.
The 14 million families include the existing eight million beneficiaries of Benazir Kafalat Program and six million additional beneficiaries who were identified through the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER).
To select the six million additional beneficiaries, the SMS service 786 was opened for those having less than Rs 40,000 monthly income to apply for the scheme by sending their Computerized National Identity Cards.
After receiving payment message from BISP, the registered families of Benazir Kafalat Program belonged from Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan receive their payments from biometric ATMs of Habib Bank and those from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir from Bank Alfalah.
It is pertinent to mention here that the federal cabinet approved a relief package of worth Rs 28 billion to counter the effects of increased petroleum prices on the poor citizens.
According to the Chairperson BISP, Shazia Marri, the coalition government is pursuing concrete efforts to provide much-needed targeted subsidies to the poorest of the poor.
“The increase in petrol prices was a difficult decision to save the country’s economy from bankruptcy owing to the ineffective policies of the previous government”, she said.

M.Subtain Zahid-Emerging blogger,Infleuncer and Content Creator.

Talent is highly prized around the world, and youthful talent is even more so. It’s incredible to be young and achieve significantly more than folks twice your age. Not everyone is meant to reach a certain level of fulfilment in their lives, but if you are ambitious and determined, you can attain your goals with hard work and devotion. Success is never easy, but it appears significantly more difficult and dangerous when you are young. When it comes to young people making a difference in society or introducing new ideas, the name of Subtain Zahid, a young man from Islamabad, Pakistan, must be mentioned. Being ambitious and beginning to work for your objectives at an early age might be a blessing in disguise,Despite this, many people only realise the worth of time after it has passed. Because they are afraid of the problems they will confront, most young people choose to daydream rather than move out of their comfort zone and work on their goals. Subtain Zahid, on the other hand, holds a different viewpoint. Once you’ve started down the road to success, he believes there’s no turning back. Falling and rising are natural parts of the process, and those who maintain their momentum are lucky. Subtain Zahid is a good example of this.

Who is Subtain Zahid?

Subtain Zahid is a 19-year-old young man. His born in 16th march,2003 in Sheikhupura Punjab.  He currently resides in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital. He is now pursuing his bachelor’s degree in Economics at Bahria University Islamabad. His father works for the government. Since he was in fifth grade, he has wanted to become famous on social media. It was a significant risk, but it provided him the motivation he needed to work hard and try new things. He began blogging in 2019 and has over 200k Instagram followers (Subtain blogs). He also works as an influencer and content provider in addition to writing. He collaborated with a lot of Pakistani companies. He has also worked with global brands and campaigns. Finally, he got his big break when he became renowned on Instagram, Tiktok, and other social media platforms.

What does Subtain Zahid have to say about his success?

It wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows. Subtain experienced his first taste of disappointment at a young age, owing to his early achievement. He tells us of a period when he was on the verge of losing a year. He was 33 percent burned by high voltage current in 2016, spent a month in the ICU, and had to redo grade 9 because he wasn’t prepared for the tests. He understands the value of time and believes that if he didn’t waste it, he would be more senior in the class in which he is currently enrolled. However, everything happens for a reason. If he does not lose his one year, he would never see his helpful and loving friends again. He stated that he had received backing from family and friends is a blessing.

Advice to young Creators.

Subtain learned by trial and error when he first started working in social media and had no one to look up to in Pakistan. But now that he’s settled into his niche, he’s ready to offer some advise to those who are just getting started with social media.

  • If you want to do something in life, you must be determined. There will be many challenges ahead, and you must be bold enough to tackle them all. Just keep in mind that the path to your dream is not easy. So, even if there are no immediate benefits, staying on task and working hard is crucial.
  • Creating a strong team while creating content. Trusting the proper people will take you a long way, and in order to do so, you must carefully select your team. That does not include everyone you know, but only those who are qualified, hardworking, and skilled in their respective industries.
  • Time management, time management is very important. If you say, “I can’t give time to this social media for content creation,” then you are a very lazy person in my opinion, because it is impossible to be busy 24/7. If you look around the world, you will notice that people who are always on top manage their time and work hard.

Shehzad Roy pays tribute to frontline workers of Coronavirus in his new song

Shehzad Roy, a singer, and activist is known for using his musical talents to bring social and political issues to the public’s attention. This time he has produced a new tune that departs from his customary blunt satire. Maula Vey puts you on an emotional rollercoaster, exploring a love story set in Covid-19. With themes of love, sorrow, and helplessness – but this isn’t just another love song.

Roy’s song which features actor Syra Yousuf is a memorial to healthcare workers that died while protecting others during the pandemic. It tells one of the numerous untold stories of frontline workers who succumbed to the illness while trying to help others.

The song video, which is set in a hospital, has Shahzad and Syra as healthcare personnel isolated in separate rooms. The song takes you on an emotional trip. As they seek solace in one another while separating themselves from the outside world and battling their illness.

Many frontline workers had no choice but to distance themselves from their families and loved ones when the pandemic was at its apex. Some of them lost their lives alone battling the illness and never made it back.

Maula Vey is a lovely attempt to depict the doubt and longing that people feel when they are alone. Especially those whose heroic efforts are often unseen. There could be no better choice than Shahzad to convey this terrible tale of heroism. Maula Vey is a unique production in the love genre, directed by Ahsan Rahim and composed by Shany Haider.
