Protecting Children: Anti-Polio Campaign Starts in Balochistan

Tomorrow (Monday) begins a week-long effort to fight polio in the Balochistan province of Pakistan. The goal is to vaccinate more than 2.655 million children, boosting their protection against this disabling disease. To support overall health, children will also receive Vitamin A drops.

It’s encouraging that Balochistan hasn’t had a reported polio case since 2021. However, recent tests found traces of the poliovirus in the Lasbela district. This discovery shows why continued vaccination is so important.

This campaign is part of Pakistan’s larger effort to end polio. In January, a nationwide campaign aimed to vaccinate over 40 million children under the age of five.

Why Eradicating Polio Matters

Polio is a dangerous virus that can lead to paralysis and even death. Children are especially at risk. While there is no cure, the polio vaccine is incredibly effective in preventing the disease. By working together and getting our children vaccinated, we can create a world where polio is no longer a threat.

Let’s all support the anti-polio campaign in Balochistan!
