Pakistani Rupee Gains Again as Dollar, Euro and Pound Decline

The Pakistani rupee continued its positive run against major international currencies on Friday, October 2, with the local currency recording another gain against the US dollar in the interbank market.

The rupee closed at Rs277.07 against the US dollar, strengthening by around three paisas during the latest trading session. The move marked the 253rd consecutive day of gains against the greenback.

The latest performance keeps the Pakistani currency close to the Rs277 level against the dollar, with market data showing the exchange rate moving gradually lower in recent sessions.

The rupee has maintained its upward trend against the US dollar since December 25, 2025. The continued stability of the local currency has kept attention focused on developments in Pakistan’s foreign exchange market.

The local currency also strengthened against the British pound and euro during Friday’s session. The rupee gained around 45 paisas against the pound, while it appreciated by Rs1.22 against the euro.

According to the reported exchange-rate data, the euro was recorded at around Rs311.61, compared with Rs312.83 in the previous session. The British pound stood near Rs365.86 after being quoted at approximately Rs366.32 a day earlier.

The rupee also recorded a modest gain against the Australian dollar. Meanwhile, the local currency weakened slightly against the Canadian dollar and remained broadly stable against the UAE dirham and Saudi riyal.

The latest movement follows a series of small daily gains for the Pakistani currency. Recent market data has shown the rupee remaining within a relatively narrow range against the US dollar, with changes occurring by only a few paisas on several trading days.

The improvement against major currencies is being closely watched by businesses, importers, exporters and consumers because exchange-rate movements can influence the cost of imported goods, international payments and other foreign-currency transactions.

A stronger rupee can also affect the local cost of imports, although the actual impact depends on international prices, domestic demand, trade conditions and other economic factors.

The latest figures show that the rupee has continued to strengthen gradually rather than making a sharp single-day move. The dollar closed at Rs277.0714, while the euro and pound were recorded at Rs311.6084 and Rs365.8589, respectively.

Market participants will continue to monitor whether the rupee can maintain its recent momentum in upcoming trading sessions. While the latest trend has been positive, daily exchange rates can change in response to domestic and international market conditions.

For now, the Pakistani rupee remains on an extended run of gains against the US dollar, with the latest session adding another small improvement to its recent performance.
