The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has made it easier than ever for citizens to update their CNIC information. With the latest upgrade of its Pak-ID mobile app (v4.4.3), users can complete the full CNIC modification process directly from their phones, without the need to visit NADRA service centres.
This digital initiative is part of Pakistan’s effort to simplify public services and reduce the stress of long queues and paperwork.
Step 1: Download the App
Start by downloading the Pak-ID app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Once installed, register an account and log in.
Step 2: Biometric Verification
The app provides two secure verification methods — fingerprint scanning or facial recognition. This ensures your identity is authenticated before proceeding further.
Step 3: Choose the Service
After logging in, users can select the type of service required: CNIC modification, renewal, or reprint. These options are also available for relatives, making the process more accessible for families.
Step 4: Upload Required Documents
The app allows you to scan or capture documents such as proof of address or supporting identification. All files can be directly uploaded through the secure interface.
Step 5: Make Payment
Fees can be paid digitally via Easypaisa, JazzCash, debit/credit card, or e-sahulat. This eliminates the need for in-person transactions.
Step 6: Delivery at Your Doorstep
Once the request is approved, NADRA prints and dispatches the updated CNIC to the user’s provided address within the expected timeframe.
This digital upgrade is a step toward Pakistan’s vision of modern e-governance. Citizens can also view NADRA’s official tutorial videos within the app to better understand the process.
