ASUS and Xreal have officially launched the highly anticipated ROG Xreal R1 AR gaming glasses, introducing a new immersive gaming experience for handheld devices, PCs, and gaming consoles.
The futuristic gaming glasses were first showcased during CES 2026 and have now entered the market with pre-orders officially open. The launch marks another major step in the growing augmented reality gaming industry.
The Asus ROG Xreal R1 features a Sony 0.55-inch micro OLED display with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. According to ASUS, the glasses are capable of projecting a massive 171-inch virtual display directly in front of the user’s eyes, creating a cinematic gaming environment without requiring a physical monitor.
One of the standout features of the device is its impressive 240Hz refresh rate when boosted frame rate mode is enabled. The glasses also offer an ultra-low 3ms motion-to-photon latency, helping reduce lag and motion blur during fast-paced gaming sessions.
ASUS claims the AR glasses can reach up to 700 nits of peak brightness with brightness boost enabled. The company also stated that the display covers approximately 95% of the user’s focused field of vision, delivering a more immersive and visually engaging experience.
The ROG Xreal R1 comes with a 57-degree field of view, allowing users to experience large-scale visuals while maintaining portability. The glasses are specifically designed for gamers who want a compact alternative to traditional displays while traveling or gaming on the move.
The device supports multiple gaming platforms, including handheld gaming PCs, desktop computers, and gaming consoles. This broad compatibility is expected to make the glasses appealing to gamers looking for flexible display solutions across different systems.
Augmented reality gaming hardware has seen rapid growth in recent years, with companies increasingly focusing on wearable display technology. Devices such as the ROG Xreal R1 aim to combine portability, high refresh rates, and immersive visuals to compete with conventional gaming monitors and VR headsets.
Industry analysts believe products like the ROG Xreal R1 could play an important role in the future of gaming, especially as demand for lightweight and mobile gaming accessories continues to rise worldwide.
With premium display specifications and a strong focus on gaming performance, the Asus ROG Xreal R1 is already attracting attention from tech enthusiasts eager to explore the next generation of AR gaming technology.
