Cricket fans across the globe can breathe a sigh of relief—Asia Cup 2025 is not canceled. Despite recent speculation, the tournament is going ahead, and the marquee clash between Pakistan and India is set for Saturday, September 7 in Dubai.
Reports indicate that the tournament will begin on September 4 or 5, featuring a T20 format. It will include a group stage, followed by the Super Four, and conclude with a final scheduled for September 21.
A second meeting between the arch-rivals is possible on September 14, provided both teams advance to the Super Four phase.
Although India retains hosting rights, concerns over regional tensions and safety have prompted organizers to shift the tournament to the UAE—a familiar and neutral venue for high-voltage clashes.
Indian media has also clarified that the national team will participate in the event, highlighting the commercial stakes tied to Indo-Pak matches. Indian broadcasters, who hold significant media rights, continue to drive the visibility and reach of these fixtures.
The decision aligns with India’s longstanding policy of not touring Pakistan since 2008. All recent India-Pakistan games, including the Champions Trophy 2025, have been played at neutral locations, mostly in the Middle East.
Anticipation is soaring, with fans eager to see top stars like Babar Azam, Virat Kohli, Shaheen Afridi, and Rohit Sharma renew their legendary rivalry on one of cricket’s biggest stages.
The Asia Cup is expected to draw millions of viewers, setting the tone ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Ticketing and streaming details are likely to be announced soon.
